FAQ
What is the objective of coaching?
To move you forward. I am here to be a collaborative partner while you lead the way. The goal is not to attach our success to an outcome, but to focus more on taking the steps to progress. Im not leading you or telling you where to go - I am working with you as we figure it out together.
Who do you work with?
I work with three main demographics. Based on my experiences in work and life, I know these worlds intimately and feel confident I can help people move forward.
1. Athletes and their parents
2. Parents, kids, and young adults who struggle with video games, social media, and technology
3. Executives and entrepreneurs
What are sessions like?
Each session is a bit different, but they mostly follow this formula - Identify your goal(s), determine markers for success, explore the situation, determine the steps to move forward, recap, and then set an intention for the week.
How long do you normally work with people?
I work with clients for as long as they need. I generally see clients once a week or twice a month for about 1-6 months.
Are there restrictions on where you can work?
No, life coaching does not have the same restrictions as traditional therapy. We can work together across state lines, via zoom, in person, and on the golf course.
Coaching versus therapy
Coaching is more about moving forward and less about diving into past trauma. Therapy focuses more on “why” and coaching focuses more on “what’s next.” We may laugh, we may cry, and that’s totally ok. Emotion doesn’t equal therapy.
Should I also See a Therapist?
There are times when what you are dealing with is outside of my scope as a life coach. That is totally ok. I encourage my clients to get the support they need and frequently see with clients who work with me and another mental health professional. Topics that are beyond my scope include substance abuse, major depression, rape or sexual assault, and thoughts of suicide. If you are struggling with any of these issues, I encourage you to reach out to a therapist or psychiatrist. I can also be a resource and provide recommendations if you need them.
Why do I need coaching if I am already successful?
Success can be defined by many factors. You may be financially successful, but feel stuck in your personal life. You may be a star athlete, but feel as though you are navigating things completely alone. “Success” is defined in a variety of ways and current success doesn’t mean there won’t be bumps down the road. Everyone needs support from time to time regardless of how “successful” they may be.
